Taxes and Economy
We need tax policies that are fair and
transparent. We must bring tax fairness and fiscal responsibility back
to Minnesota. We must close corporate tax loopholes and make sure that
everyone—including the small group of people who earn over $500,000 per
year--pay their fair share in taxes. Read more.
Health Care
In the richest nation on earth and one of the
most prosperous states, many Minnesotans are still uninsured and
underinsured. No one should lie awake at night wondering how he or she
will pay for essential medical care. Our health care system—if it is a
system at all—is enormously complex, so we must address the problems on
many fronts. While some solutions must come at the federal level,
Minnesota can address many problems right here. All we need is the
political will to do it. I will keep working to provide affordable
coverage to every Minnesotan. Read more.
Education
The State of Minnesota is not adequately funding
our public schools. Our children are the workers, parents and leaders
of tomorrow. Our future success as an economy and as a democracy
depends upon the tools we give our children today. Our state must take
much bolder steps to protect this precious resource. We must insure
that our schools and teachers get the resources they need to give all
Minnesota students equal opportunities to succeed. Read more
Vikings Proposals
Public money should go to private enterprise only
where the investment is truly for public, not private, benefit. In my
view, the Vikings stadium proposals are great for the team owners but
unfair to the
taxpayer.
