The Star Tribune endorsed Tina in 2006, calling her the “wiser choice” for State Representative

In an editorial published October 27, 2006, the Star Tribune newspaper called Tina Liebling the “wiser choice” for State Representative. Saying that Liebling stands, “more squarely in the progressive Rochester tradition," the paper noted that Liebling took “independent, tough votes during her first term.”

In the same editorial, the paper took Carla Nelson to task for defending deep budget cuts to higher education that she voted for, which conflict with her promotion of the University of Minnesota in Rochester.

The newspaper took the unusual step of questioning Nelson’s integrity when it said, “[Nelson’s] suggestion that Liebling, a freshman in the House minority, be blamed for the 2005 state budget shutdown ill befits someone who knows the legislative ropes.”

I have been impressed by Tina's support of local students. As a senior at Century HS (Class of 2005), my friends and I organized two city-wide events to encourage students to be active citizens and become engaged in the election process. Rep. Liebling accepted invitations to our events and was very supportive of our efforts. I hope we, as Rochester Citizens, can benefit from another term having Tina as our representative to the MN State House!
